Saranac River Trail: Phase 2 Public Meeting

The City of Plattsburgh will hold a public information meeting for the above-referenced project, which is an extension of the Saranac River Trail along Pine Street to Stafford Middle School and an extension along the opposite side of the river to a proposed new pedestrian bridge at the Durkee Street extension.  The meeting will be held Thursday, September 17, at 5 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers in City Hall, 41 City Hall Place, Plattsburgh.

The meeting will begin with a formal presentation at 5 p.m. to present the proposed alternative. The need for replacement of the Saranac Street Bridge will also be discussed. Time will be provided afterward to address specific questions and comments.  An open-house meeting will follow in the Community room where City representatives will be available to discuss the project with interested people and public officials in an informal setting.  Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and provide opinions and comments to staff either orally or in writing.

The project is currently in the preliminary design phase.  Public involvement is a critical component in the development and delivery of all transportation projects.  The City encourages attendance and input as this project progresses through final design and into construction, which is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2016.

Those who cannot attend this meeting and have questions or comments, or would like to discuss the project in further detail should contact City Engineer, Kevin Farrington, P.E., by telephone at (518) 563-7730 or by email at kfarrington@cityofplattsburgh-ny.gov.
