Friends of Saranac River Trail will be holding its first-ever Jane’s Walk, a walking conversation to explore and celebrate Downtown Plattsburgh, on May 5, 2018, from at 10 a.m - 11:30 a.m.

The walk will stop at several downtown locations to discuss and appreciate the sometimes overlooked vitality of Plattsburgh’s city center. Among the stops:

    • The new live/work studio space being set up by artists Walter Early and Logan Brody at the former Johnson’s Auto Glass Building at 4 Macdonough Street. You can get a sneak peak by visiting their websites, www.walterearly.com and www.loganbrody.com.
    • The recently renovated North Country Food Co-op at 25 Bridge Street, a community owned natural foods market.
    • Wayward Sound Studio, a recording space owned by Jamse Ward that has helped produce several projects for local musicians

Jane’s Walks, open to the public, allow local groups of interested, ordinary citizens to get to know and share information about their neighborhoods. They celebrate the ideals of Jane Jacobs, a pioneering author and activist whose writing, including the influential “Death and Life of Great American Cities,” helped lead a renaissance in urban America, and an appreciation of lively, walkable, livable city environments.

The walk will be repeated on June 2, 2018 (National Trails Day), 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
