Edible and Medicinal Plants of Saranac River Trail

This trek is back by request! Please meet by the large Saranac River Trail sign on George Angell Drive. 

This walk will introduce participants to numerous wild edible and medicinal plants found throughout the Champlain Valley. Topics will include developing plant identification skills, as well as sustainable harvesting and preparation techniques.

Dr. Michael B. Burgess is an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at SUNY Plattsburgh, where he teaches botany courses and is the Director of the PLAT herbarium and SUNYPlattsburgh greenhouse. His research focuses on the systematics and evolution of Amelanchier, floristics of northeastern North America, and wild edible and medicinal plants.
