2018 Upcoming Events on the Saranac River Trail

Join us along the SRT Greenway route on Saturday, June 2, 2018 to celebrate National Trails Day. More details will be announced for events planned for

  • Town of Saranac
  • Town of Schuyler Falls
  • Town of Plattsburgh
  • City of Plattsburgh

Other events to watch for in  2018:

  • Sculpture along the Trail. Works of sculpture along the Trail will start to be placed in Spring 2018. Watch our website and Facebook pagre for more information about events and descriptions of the works. Sunrise Rotary and Friends of Saranac River Trail are working together on this project.
  • LaPierre Lane Riverway is the first spur off the Saranac River Trail Greenway. It opens a once privately owned section along the Saranac River to runners, bikers, snow shoers, cross country skiers, canoes and kayaks, families/picnickers and walkers of all ages and abilities. The Town of Plattsburgh is steward of the project which is also supported by a generous grant from Foundation of CVPH. It is scheduled to open in summer 2018.
  • Natural History of the Trail
  • A new adition to LaPierre Lane will be a boardwalk sponsored by Sunrise Rotary to allow close-up viewing and appreciation of wetlands without damaging them (or getting your shoes muddy).
  • Champlain Arts will be releasing a new version of the Saranac River Trail app updated for iOS 11 in Spring 2018. The Trail companion app will continue to be free and is available for iPad and iPhone.
  • Also on LaPierre Lane, the 900 square foot pad for the Fitness for Life equipment was poured in early December. More equipment will be installed in Spring 2018.

Friends of Saranac River Trail will be sponsoring another round of Treks on the Trail. Make sure you follow us on our website and Facebook Page for more information and dates. Treks in the planning process are:

  • Edible and Medicinal Plants along the Trail
  • Tour of the Water Pollution Control Plant (it's the reason we can use the Lake for recreation and fishing!)
  • Citizen Science Adventure in Rugar Woods
  • Invasive Species on the Attack
  • Ron Nolland and Penny Clute Photography Trek
  • and more. If you have ideas or suggestions, please contact us at info@saranacrivertrail.org
