Jun 1 2019 - 10:00am to 11:30am

Friends of Saranac River Trail will kick off a new crowd-sourced photo project for National Trails Day—June 1, 2019—giving anyone with a camera a chance to share their photography while exploring the Trail. Led by Penny Clute and Ron Nolland, the day will focus on the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, a way of looking at the world that considers beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent and incomplete.”

Members of the public will be encouraged to look for and photograph that beauty along the ever-evolving Saranac River Trail. Images from the National Trails Day will then be pooled online to create a community portfolio of unique perspectives from National Trails Day, which in turn will become part of a broader SRT collection of photographs taken throughout this summer. Future SRT excursions will allow the community to document nature, including edible and medicinal plants along the trail and the diverse species of birds, the city’s underappreciated yet thriving business clusters, as well as overlooked but vital historic locations.

The project kicks off at 10 a.m. on June 1 with a meeting led by Clute and Nolland. Please mark the date and join Friends of the Saranac River Trail.

We will meet in front of Plattsburgh City Hall, 41 City Hall Place.
